It’s SepticSmart Week!
September 18-22, 2023
SepticSmart Week is an annual event focused on educating homeowners and communities on the proper care and maintenance of their septic systems. Our organization is one of 20 partners that is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Decentralized Wastewater Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Partnership.
We are a proud member of EPA’s Decentralized Wastewater MOU Partnership and formally recognize SepticSmart Week 2023 and its outreach activities.
Septic systems provide wastewater treatment for one in five existing homes across the United States. For new residential construction, that number is higher. It is vital to educate and remind everyone, especially new owners, the importance of adequate wastewater treatment to public health, the environment, and property values.
SepticSmart Week typically takes place on the third week of September each year. For 2023, SepticSmart Week will be held September 18-22. For updates on activities and additional information from the EPA, visit: https://www.epa.gov/septic.
Protecting Your Home and the Environment while Saving Money
Across the country, local environmental groups, health departments, and governments face challenges posed by improperly maintained and failing septic systems. EPA assists these local groups in promoting homeowner education and awareness. For more information and to download available materials, go to:
